Kamaraj Memorial

kamaraj      This Memorial is Built in memory of the Former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu Mr. K. Kamaraj. He was the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu from 13 April 1954 to 2 October 1963. He was born on 15-7-1903. He passed away on 2-10-1975.

     Kumaraswami Kamaraj Nadar, better known as K. Kamaraj was an Indian politician widely known as a kingmaker in Indian politics, known for his honesty, integrity and simplicity. He was instrumental in bringing to power two Prime Ministers, Lal Bahadur Shastri in 1964 and Indira Gandhi in 1966. He was affectionately known as the Gandhi of the South, the Black Gandhi. He was awarded India's highest civilian honour, the Bharat Ratna, posthumously in 1976.

kamaraj memorial      This memorial is situated at Sardar Patel Road, Opposite to Anna University in Guindy, Chennai. It spreads over 6.04 acres of land. The Building area is about 484 square meters. It was opened on 14-02-1976. A chest height statue of Kamaraj is placed inside the memorial.
