Memorials in Chennai

     This Memorial is Built in memory of the Former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu Mr. Bakthavatsalam. He was the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu from 2-10-1963 to 6-3-1967. He was born on 9-10-1897. He passed away on 13-02-1987.

     He took part in Indian Freedom struggle and after Independence he was instrumental in the development of the Nation. During Freedom struggle he was lodged in Amaravathi Prison.

     When he was Chief Minster, he amended the law to build school, College students hostel from the Hindu Religious Departments Temple Fund. He also visited the Soviet Union during 1960 and very much attracted by their five year plans said that even we can achieve more if we implement two more five year plans in line with Soviet Union. Both Politically and individually he was leader who lived with humanity. This memorial is erected on a place where he was buried after his death.

     This Memorial is situated at Guindy. Entry Free. No holidays to visit.
